Budgeting…bleh!

One of the things about planning a wedding is dealing with the cost.night_under_arch These things aren’t cheap!!! I have a mental picture of how I want this thing to go, and I don’t see how it can be done on a very low budget! I think we’ve finally decided on a number and we’re shooting for $10,000 (correct me if I’m wrong Monica). That number shouldn’t be too difficult to obtain with us 18 months out. I don’t believe that we’re including the honeymoon in that number though. Sigh…

We still haven’t decided on a place, but it’s been narrowed down to two places. We’re checking them out this weekend, but it’s looking like the wedding will be in Golden, and the picture on this blog entry is a pic from one of their weddings. What’s nice about that spot is that we have full access to the patio, grounds outside, and indoors. We’re shooting to have the wedding outside, and the reception inside. Mother nature had better behave.

Lastly, it looks like I was premature in saying what our menu is. Looks like many places don’t allow outside catering, so we’re stuck with the chefs at the locations that we select. It’s not that big of a deal as it’ll be cheaper on our pockets anyway! If we go with the place in Golden, it looks like we’ll still be able to have Mexican, and I’ll probably insist on some Italian as well since people from Golden don’t know much about soul food, lol.

Happy New Year all!

Mexican or Souuuuuulllllll!!!!

As I said on my main blog, I didn’t want to turn that into a blog in which I’m discussing the wedding planning every other week. It just made sense to start a complete new one. So here we go! I hope you like the new website!

Our engagement is going to be a year and a half. I guess that’s on the IMG_0162longer side of things, but with multiple trips planned for next year, combined with us not wanting to burden parents with assisting too much on paying for the wedding, it just makes sense for us to have a Summer wedding in June of 2011. I want to help and I definitely plan on helping in the planning of this thing. I’ve never planned one before, so I’m pretty excited. Most of our discussions nowadays revolve around wedding planning, and the only thing that has been officially decided is the food. Yeah!

It’s no secret that Monica and I come from completely different backgrounds. My knowledge of Mexican food was simply tacos growing up. That’s it! However now it consists of chimichangas, enchiladas, chalupas, green chili, etc, etc! I had never tasted that stuff up until three years ago, but now I eat it weekly! Anyway, it’s a given that we have to have Mexican food at the wedding. My fiancĂ© is a very understanding woman though, and she knows that while I do like Mexican food, nothing gives me that warm fuzzy feeling like some great soul food. So we’ve decided that we’re rolling with two options, you can either do Mexican or soul food. Simple!

I know I type a lot sometimes, but I’m going to try and make the posts in this blog much shorter than my other one. It’s still just the same old nutty Chris, but just with a more defined subject matter. So just like my other blog, if you read and wanna comment, cool. If you don’t wanna read, that’s okay too! Lastly, I’m in the process of integrating Facebook with this blog that way you can just use your Facebook username and password to comment instead of creating numerous accounts. Take care all…
